Juniper SRX Series firewalls run Junos OS, the same operating system as Juniper's routers and switches. They combine firewalling with strong routing, which suits networks that already run Junos or need the firewall to act as a router as well. Juniper Networks is now part of HPE.

Both. An SRX runs full Junos routing alongside its firewall, VPN and threat features, so one unit can do the work of two at a branch.
Which licences does an SRX need?
Firewalling, routing and VPN are part of Junos. Features such as intrusion prevention, application security and anti-malware need a subscription licence.
